Employee Benefits for Pasco County Employees

Pension plan - FRS (Florida Retirement System)

  • Employer paid with 3% employee contribution
  • Vesting after six years; 8 years for those employees who first join FRS on or after 7/1/11
  • Optional Investment Plan
  • Health Insurance Subsidy after retirement

Deferred Compensation (457 Plan) – Employee paid

  • Tax deferred savings
  • Four different providers, with many options

Group Insurance -  United Healthcare

  • Health Insurance paid for employee, and available for family members
  • Dental Coverage (employee paid) available for employee and family members
  • Short-term and Long-term disability available
  • Life Insurance -$5,000 paid by employer, additional available

Paid Holidays

  • 10-12 per year depending on calendar

Paid Vacation

  • Leave accrual starts immediately
  • Accrual rate depends on position held and increases with tenure

Paid Sick Leave

  • Unlimited carryover each calendar year

Other Leaves of Absence

  • Medical Leave Pool. Up to 240 hours of medical leave if personal medical leave is exhausted (must join pool by donating 40 hours).
  • Funeral Leave. Up to 3 days in the event of the death of immediate family member.
  • Military Leave. Up to 17 days a year for reserve duty.
    Disaster Leave Pool. Up to 40 hours if primary residence suffers severe damage.
  • Administrative Leave. Up to 40 hours per calendar year for Professional and Management grade employees.
