Pasco County Fleet Management has gone through several transitions through the early 1980's to 1996.  Fleet Maintenance Operation was operated in-house until 1984 when Fleet Maintenance was privatized.  This lasted until late 1996, when the Board of County Commissioners approved bringing Fleet Maintenance Operation back as an in-house operation due to a cost saving measures.

 

As of 1996, Fleet Management Department has been servicing all of the departments under the Board of County Commissioners.  This service is provided through 3 maintenance facilities and 7 fuel islands located throughout the County.  Utilizing the historical data from the private contractor, Pasco County Fleet Management has been able to benchmark and provide a comparable and enhanced service to Pasco County with a lesser cost to the departments and the residents of Pasco County. 

 

 The Fleet Management Department is responsible for over 2,000 units that are driven over 12 million miles annually, under the Board of County Commissioners and the Supervisor of Elections.  The Fleet Maintenance Operation provides a 24 hour, 365 day a year service to all of it's customers regarding repairs and on-call services.  Fleet Maintenance Operation performs over 9,000 Work Orders annually to include repairs and preventative maintenance services. 

 

The Fuel Operation provides a 24 hour, 365 day a year service to all departments under the Board of County Commissioners and the following Constitutional Offices: Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Sheriff, Clerk of Circuit Court, Public Defender and State Attorney as well as several municipalities.  Fleet Maintenance Fuel Operation supports the above customers by providing over 2 million gallons of fuel annually, which represents approximately 35 to 40 thousand gallons delivered weekly at the various fuel islands. In addition, it monitors over 5 thousand individual fuel cards for both employees and vehicles. 

 

Fleet Management also provides to all County departments over 150 individual specifications for 75 different types of vehicles or equipment.  In addition, Fleet Management monitors and controls the replacement, purchase and decommissioning of all vehicles and equipment under the Board of County Commissioners.
