As of 1996, Fleet Management Department has been servicing all of the departments under the Board of County Commissioners. This service is provided through 3 maintenance facilities and 7 fuel islands located throughout the County. The Fuel Operation provides a 24 hour, 365 day a year service to all departments under the Board of County Commissioners and the following Constitutional Offices: Tax Collector, Property Appraiser, Supervisor of Elections, Sheriff, Clerk of Circuit Court, Public Defender and State Attorney as well as several municipalities. Fleet Maintenance Fuel Operation supports the above customers by providing over 2 million gallons of fuel annually, which represents approximately 35 to 40 thousand gallons delivered weekly at the various fuel islands. In addition, it monitors over 5 thousand individual fuel cards for both employees and vehicles.
Fleet Management also provides to all County departments over 150 individual specifications for 75 different types of vehicles or equipment. In addition, Fleet Management monitors and controls the replacement, purchase and decommissioning of all vehicles and equipment under the Board of County Commissioners.
