Pasco County Transit System Fares and Passes Information

The Pasco County Transit System uses electronic fare boxes and paying electronically is easy! RideCards, or “ bus passes”, and ChangeCards work with its state-of-the-art electronic fare boxes. Much like a credit card, RideCards have a magnetic stripe that is read by the fare box to determine card type and validity. The fare box will conveniently print information on the back of the pass, which lets you know what value remains on the card and any applicable expiration date.

RideCard

There are four types of RideCard passes: 1-Day, 31-Day, 20-Ride, or Gift. Ridecards can also be used for a variety of special purposes: promotions, business- or agency-sponsored trips and so forth. Potential sponsors may contact PCPT for more information.

Using RideCards

RideCards are easy to use. Simply tell the driver what type of fare you are purchasing – a one-way fare or 1-Day Pass – then deposit coins or bills into the fare box. Or, if you have a pre-purchased 1-Day, 31-Day, 20-Ride, or Gift Pass, activate it by inserting into the fare card slot. Your card will be read, the correct fare deducted and/or the expiration date will be printed on the back, and the card returned to you at the top of the fare box. Remember to retrieve your pass before you take a seat. Once your RideCard is activated, simply slide it through the swipe slot on the right of the fare box upon each boarding.

PCPT ChangeCard

Good toward future fares if you don't have the exact fare. While drivers cannot make change, the fare box issues a PCPT ChangeCard for the difference between what you owe and what you pay. For example, if you purchase a $1.50 fare with two $1 bills, the fare box will issue a PCPT ChangeCard for $.50. The next time you ride PCPT, insert the PCPT ChangeCard in the fare card slot. Good only on PCPT fixed-route buses. Cannot be redeemed for cash. Not valid for Paratransit services.
