About Us
The primary responsibility of the Road and Bridge Department is to provide and maintain a safe roadway network for the traveling public. At the present time, this includes the maintenance of 1,523 miles of paved roads ranging from residential to urban arterial and 192 miles of unpaved roads. Along with the above tasks, 44 bridges, over 2,400 miles of roadway, drainage ditches and swales, drainage control structures, over 60,000 traffic control and informational signs, Thermo-Plastic roadway striping, and right-of-way mowing are under this Department's jurisdiction. The right-of-way enhancement program adds and maintains a variety of trees, plants, bushes, shrubs, and other ground cover to selected medians on arterial and collector roadways. |
